WE RESTORE NOT JUST THE ART
BUT ALSO THE ARTIST’S ORIGINAL VISION
We make many a collector, interior designer and gallery happy with the meticulousness and precision we put into restoring damaged art

RESTORATION SERVICES

We are widely known as one of the few establishments in Canada who is trusted by galleries, churches, artists, and collectors to restore priceless works of art and photography. Anyone familiar with fine art restoration can tell you that this is a very delicate and risky process where one slip can ruin a piece of art.

Our Specialties

CLEANING AND VARNISHING

Cleaning and Varnishing

Our meticulous cleaning procedure includes mold and mildew removal and reversing the effects of moisture and smoke.
The varnish removal process incorporates extensive testing to identify the specific varnish and paint layers and fix the problem of discolored or yellowing varnish. We perform consolidation, adhesion, and flattening of flaking, crazing or delicate paint.

PATCHING AND FLATTENING

Patching and Flattening

Our patching and flattening will help to restore the artwork to its former glory. We excel at texturing and retouching areas of lost, chipped, scratched or worn away paint. The patching of holes, tears, cuts or punctures is done in such a way that makes it difficult to notice any patchwork was done at all.
CANVAS RE-STRETCHING AND RE-LINING

CANVAS RE-STRETCHING &
RE-Lining

Our services are not limited to, printing and stretching. Our team of experts from different departments has often collaborated on restoring antique fine art pieces. There have been many instances where an old fine art piece had significant issues with its frame, such as mold, bugs, and/or water damage.
Our teams brainstorm on each case and draw up a plan on how to safely remove the work from its frame without damaging it and fix all other issues, using brand new, collector-quality mats and frames and re-stretch it in a way that maintains the integrity of the art, adds to its value, and preserves it for hundreds of years to come.

sample #1 of our Restoration PROCESS

  • Art work in the original state ( before removing the old varnish, restoring and revarnishing)
Here we had an old Oil painting brought by the client in the original state. List of Issues: 1- The painting kept in the dusty area and colours lost their brightness under the layer of dust and dirt. 2- The hole painting is fragile and filled with lots of small cracks. 3- There are some missing details because of the crakes.

  • Art work after the process of Cleaning, Restoration, re-varnishing and framing
We add a new layer of fresh canvas under the painting before to start cleaning and filling the cracks.

Step2  (Inspection)
after we removed the artwork from the old frame and stretcher-bar, We noticed lots of crack, mould, and fungus on the painting's front and backside.

Step3 ( Lining the new layer on canvas)
Add the new layer of canvas and restricting it.
The old canvas has been ripped from 3 points.
We decided to add a new layer of canvas behind it to make it stronger, using Belgium linen and special conservation and natural glue.
- After this process we stretched the canvas on the new stretcher bar.

Step4
Deep cleaning
The artwork has been exposed to dust and smoke during its lifetime.
It is essential to clean these discoloured painting before we start to fill the missing part and paint them.

Step5
Filling the holes and repainting the missing parts.

Step6
Coating
We put the new layer of removable and conservation grade mat varnish on top of the painting to prevent any more damage in the future without changing the painting's finishing look.

Step7 Framing

WE CARE!

When you contact us, please provide multiple photos of your art piece that shows the damage. We will also need to know a few facts about the piece, such as the name of the artist and the age and medium of the work. One of our expert consultants will collaborate with you to find the perfect solutions for its restoration.

In many cases, it is suggested not to move your art piece. A damaged original artwork can easily get worse if it is moved unprofessionally. We will come to your location to investigate and appraise the job.

If we feel the piece is sensitive, we may send our professional delivery people to pick it up or, in some cases, our licensed experts may perform the repairs at your place.

HOW IT WORKS

Restoration operations require the collaboration of different types of frame experts and restoration experts. Therefore, an advance appointment is necessary so that we can have the correct room and proper experts on hand when the piece arrives.
